Technology Office

YouSendIt is a proven leader in the large file transfer space. We process over 15 million files per month for our 28 million users from large and small enterprises.

People don’t send files for the sake of sending files. These files are critical to their business processes. When the delivery of these files is blocked due to system or human labor failure, their business process is stopped, their time-to-revenue slowed and their business plans disrupted.

While our core business has been and will continue to be reliable and secure transfer of large files, we have our sights set on the broad spectrum of people-to-people collaboration within and across company boundaries.

YouSendIt’s Technology Office was launched in 2010 to help us fulfill the vision of people-to-people collaboration in the business world that is being accelerated by powerful social and technological forces. To harness them, we focus on 3 key areas: Long-term Technology Strategy, Advanced Research & Development, and Industry Leadership & Evangelism. Our DNA is to build products that solve real problems with extreme ease of use. As is often the case, making things simple on the surface, requires ground-breaking creativity and hardcore computer science.

Over the past 2 years, we have continuously invested in scaling our systems. We have built a robust backend SOA-based platform that scales on demand, and maintains reliability and uptime by utilizing efficient cache-and-queue secured messaging system with distributed database architecture.

"Technology Manifesto" – Calling our Colleagues in the Industry

We are observing that some of the newer technology macro trends in the industry such as cloud, mobile, and social networking are going to fundamentally impact how people collaborate. YouSendIt is investing into understanding these new trends in order to create value for our customers.

For example, we believe that there is not going to be single cloud storage or cloud platform. Many different ones will co-exist, and users will need to collaborate over any combination of clouds. We call it "Cloudnostic". We also expect non-computer devices like phones, cameras, TV, scanners and printers to participate in the entire spectrum from voice and video communication to content authoring, viewing, sharing, syncing, and ad-hoc workflow management.

We believe that we and the world around us will be more productive if we could openly collaborate to generate and share knowledge. We would love to exchange viewpoints and ideas on how the world will evolve in the next decade, and what would be some of the interesting consequences from this transformation. We want to invite our colleagues in the industry to participate in open technical discussions on how some of the latest technology trends are shaping users’ access, sharing, and processing of information. Our hope is that these conversations will be an important learning experience for all of us, and lead us in future decision making and partnerships.

Meet Our Advisory Panel

To help us in our mission, we are assembling a technology Advisory Panel of industry experts.
