Overcoming distance as a business barrier
Proximity to business partners and customers is important for success. This is especially true in the music industry, where delays in product submissions are often deal-breakers. Based in San Francisco, Epiphany Music faced a familiar challenge, as the major hubs of the music industry are in Los Angeles and New York City. The physical distance between Epiphany Music’s office location and their target customers was threatening the company’s growth. Not only was it time-consuming to mail or courier sessions recordings to major labels, it was expensive, too, with overnight shipping costs climbing above $100 a day.
One of Newburgh’s audio engineers recommended YouSendIt for Business for file sharing and business collaboration. Based on that recommendation—and positive reviews from other professionals in the music and entertainment industry—Newburgh selected YouSendIt for Business for his company, and in the process turned a business barrier into an opportunity.
Sharing content with clients anywhere
Epiphany Music uses YouSendIt for Business desktop and mobile apps to communicate directly with their writers and clients to make and send edits to recording sessions, provide suggestions for lyrics and fine-tune vocals. After adjustments are made, clients send the sessions back to Epiphany Music via YouSendIt dropbox, which is the primary solution that Epiphany Music uses to receive large audio files from customers. One of the great advantages of YouSendIt dropbox is that customers don’t have to sign in or even sign up for a YouSendIt for Business account. They simply click a link provided by Epiphany Music, quickly upload large media files up to 2GB, and then email them to Epiphany Music—easy, fast and secure.
Accessing and syncing content improves efficiencies
YouSendIt for Business is a critical component of the office workflow at Epiphany Music. Often Newburgh will send up to 300 WAV files that have to be bundled together and shared through multiple cycles of editing, mixing and mastering. When the post-production and editing work is completed on a sessions recording, Newburgh shares the content with his audio engineer who mixes them. Then the audio engineer updates the wave files which are instantly synced to Newburgh’s computer for review and approval. Newburgh then shares the audio files with the mastering engineer, who finishes the mix and sends it back to him immediately using YouSendIt for Business.
Signing contracts on the go
In addition to sending, sharing, and receiving high-value content, Newburgh also uses the YouSendIt for Business e-signature feature to sign major contracts. Instead of receiving a contract, either in person or by mail, Newburgh receives them electronically. He reviews the terms of the agreement online and then simply signs the contract using the YouSendIt mobile app. “It’s even easier than signing for a UPS package—I don’t even need a pen,” Newburgh says. “I just read the contract, sign it, and send it back on my iPhone. I no longer have to print out and fax back documents. It’s instantaneous and totally stress free.”
Ease of use results in cost savings
YouSendIt for Business enables Epiphany Music to access and share content with ease. Updates to files are instantly synced across different computers and mobile phones, accelerating the post-production process. Customers easily and securely send large files to them. And Newburgh and his team digitally sign contracts on their mobile touch screens. By making it easier to get more work done, YouSendIt for Business saves Epiphany music hundreds of hours and approximately $5,000 a year.
