For PC: Configuring Thunderbird for YouSendIt

  1. Download the Thunderbird application and follow the installation instructions.
  2. At the top of the Thunderbird menu, click the Tools menu and select Options. Click the Attachments button, then click Outgoing messages. Click the Add button.
  3. Enter your YouSendIt user name, or if you don't have one, click Need an Account?
  4. If creating a new account, a browser window will open that displays the YouSendIt registration page. Create an account. A validation email will be sent to you. Click the validation link to activate your account.
  5. Enter your user name in the Thunderbird dialogue box and select Set Up Account. Then enter your password and click OK.

For Mac: Configuring Thunderbird for YouSendIt

  1. Download the Thunderbird application and follow the installation instructions.
  2. In the Thunderbird menu select Preferences. Click the Attachments button, then click Outgoing messages. Click the Add button.

Quick Tutorial

  1. When you attach a file to a message, Thunderbird will display an offer button at the bottom of the email prompting you to use Filelink and YouSendIt.
  2. Click the Link button to upload the file to YouSendIt.
  3. When the recipient receives the message, they will be informed that a file is linked to the message.
  4. When the recipient clicks on the link in the message, they are given the option to download the file.
