Headquartered in Ft. Wayne, Ind., Holm Reporting provides court reporting and video services to attorneys from all over the United States. We record depositions, and then our typists transcribe them from their homes. Recently, we decided to transition our recordings to digital. Once a recording was completed, we planned to e-mail the audio files to the typists so they could transcribe them. We quickly discovered, however, that these files were too large to send as e-mail attachments.

I was at a loss. After we spent a significant amount of money on new digital equipment, we couldn’t send the digital files to the typists.

I had mentioned the issue to my son who recommended YouSendIt. I immediately tried the service and sure enough, it worked. I am now a fan of YouSendIt!

I work on the Accessible Technology Initiative for the California State University system. I create video training tutorials that teach faculty and staff how to make their electronic course materials accessible to students with disabilities. My trainers come from one of 23 campuses and we were able to finish our training projects on time because YouSendIt allowed us to send video clip files quickly and easily out for approval. Over one weekend, I needed to send large graphic files to a client for him to approve first thing on Monday so that we could deliver our print order and meet a Monday afternoon deadline. After sending the files over the weekend via my company’s normal secure FTP site, I was, needless to say, shocked when I awoke very, very late on Monday morning to a voicemail from a panicked client who had not received the graphic files.

I immediately knew what to do. I needed the one resource for secure file download that has never failed me: YouSendIt. I uploaded the files to YouSendIt and sent the link to my client. Shortly thereafter my client had received all the files (more than 500 MB total), had reviewed them, and had his committee make final approvals. Vancouver-based Aldrich Pears Associates helps its international clients plan and design cultural attractions, such as museums, science centers and zoos. As part of the process, the company needs to send and receive exceptionally large and important files.

Shortly after the company’s IT manager was laid off, graphic designer Miles Harrison had to find a quick technology solution to ensure a happy client.

Harrison posted several files on Aldrich’s FTP site for the client to retrieve them and hours later he received a call from the client who indicated that she did not receive the files by the 5 p.m. deadline. Harrison quickly realized that not only did the client assume she would receive an e-mail containing the large files, but she also didn’t understand FTP technology.
