Charles Holm -- Holm Reporting

Final – March 2, 2010

Headquartered in Ft. Wayne, Ind., Holm Reporting provides court reporting and video services to attorneys from all over the United States. We record depositions, and then our typists transcribe them from their homes. Recently, we decided to transition our recordings to digital. Once a recording was completed, we planned to e-mail the audio files to the typists so they could transcribe them. We quickly discovered, however, that these files were too large to send as e-mail attachments.

I was at a loss. After we spent a significant amount of money on new digital equipment, we couldn’t send the digital files to the typists.

I had mentioned the issue to my son who recommended YouSendIt. I immediately tried the service and sure enough, it worked. I am now a fan of YouSendIt!

Jean Wells

I work on the Accessible Technology Initiative for the California State University system. I create video training tutorials that teach faculty and staff how to make their electronic course materials accessible to students with disabilities. My trainers come from one of 23 campuses and we were able to finish our training projects on time because YouSendIt allowed us to send video clip files quickly and easily out for approval. It has saved us an enormous amount of time and money, and enabled us to launch our training on schedule.

Right now, a student who is disabled is in a class with a professor that learned how to make instructional materials accessible from our training. This is, in large part, was made possible by the significant role that YouSendIt played in our media production. I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, YouSendIt˜

Jeff Hess
Corporate Staging & Events

Headquartered in Sacramento, Calif., Corporate Staging & Events provides complete project management for live events, including audio, video, lighting, scenic stage décor, content and conference audio-visual.

Over one weekend, I needed to send large graphic files to a client for him to approve first thing on Monday so that we could deliver our print order and meet a Monday afternoon deadline. After sending the files over the weekend via my company’s normal secure FTP site, I was, needless to say, shocked when I awoke very, very late on Monday morning to a voicemail from a panicked client who had not received the graphic files.

I immediately knew what to do. I needed the one resource for secure file download that has never failed me: YouSendIt. I uploaded the files to YouSendIt and sent the link to my client. Shortly thereafter my client had received all the files (more than 500 MB total), had reviewed them, and had his committee make final approvals. Thanks to YouSendIt, I made the deadline three hours ahead of schedule.

Anna Wilson
Acquisitions Editor
Arcadia Publishing

As an acquisitions editor for Chicago-based Arcadia Publishing, the leading local-history publisher in the United States, Anna Wilson is responsible for managing authors and working with the company’s production, marketing, and sales teams to ensure that activities stay on schedule.

Part of this role includes being able to simplify complex processes for authors by applying creative approaches and explaining complicated steps—such as creating and sending high-resolution scans of historical photos—in a direct and straightforward way.

As part of this process, Wilson uses YouSendIt as an easy, secure and reliable way for harried authors to transmit their images to Arcadia Publishing. YouSendIt has revolutionized the way Wilson, and her entire organization, work with authors since they can now send files online faster and at less expense than through overnight shipping.

Dave Fowler
Managing Director
Cocoa Media

Cocoa Media, a UK-based full-service design agency, has creative professionals spread across the country, all who require technology and tools to enable their remote working arrangements to flow smoothly.

Although the company has a low carbon footprint due to not having to run a large studio, there is a need to transport large files internally and with clients and media outlets.

As a design agency, their files tend to be much larger than those generated by an average office, which can cause delivery issues when sent via e-mail. So instead, Cocoa Media employees use YouSendIt, which is a perfect solution to securely sending large graphic files.

Cocoa Media employees, including Dave Fowler, the company’s managing director, enjoy the simplicity of YouSendIt, which is excellent for clients as there is no training or account registration required for them to receive files. Additionally, the YouSendIt desktop applications integrate seamlessly with the company’s Apple and PC workstations.

Miles Harrison
Graphic Designer
Aldrich Pears Associates

Vancouver-based Aldrich Pears Associates helps its international clients plan and design cultural attractions, such as museums, science centers and zoos. As part of the process, the company needs to send and receive exceptionally large and important files.

Shortly after the company’s IT manager was laid off, graphic designer Miles Harrison had to find a quick technology solution to ensure a happy client.

Harrison posted several files on Aldrich’s FTP site for the client to retrieve them and hours later he received a call from the client who indicated that she did not receive the files by the 5 p.m. deadline. Harrison quickly realized that not only did the client assume she would receive an e-mail containing the large files, but she also didn’t understand FTP technology.

Harrison quickly remembered using YouSendIt in the past and sent the files to the client via the YouSendIt Web site while he was still on the phone with her. Before their conversation was over, the client had already received a link from YouSendIt to immediately download the files.

Taylor Sharpe
Branch Coordinator
The Globe and Mail

The newspaper industry relies heavily on effective communication and information-sharing, however this can oftentimes make collaboration challenging when working with partners and clients who utilize different IT services, software and hardware.

As a branch coordinator for a major Canadian newspaper, Taylor Sharpe and his team had to proof and approve an advertisement worth more than $20,000 in five minutes so that it could get to press on time. The client, however, had no way of attaching such a large file to an e-mail to send it to the newspaper.

Sharpe recommended that the client use YouSendIt, which would enable them to send the file immediately. The client was able to quickly, easily and securely send the ad proof in time to have it approved and uploaded for transmission to the printing plants across the country.
